BERNARDSVILLE, NJ – Evelyn Savage, Chief Executive Officer of the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills, has been selected as a recipient of the Somerset County Business Partnership’s Outstanding Business Person of the Year award in the non-profit category.
Ms. Savage, who has been with the VNA for over two decades, was chosen for her many accomplishments, including oversight of the growth of the VNA from a 20-person staff to an organization of 135 strong and the establishment of the Somerset Hills Hospice, which provides care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of terminally ill patients and their families. Savage was also instrumental in the merger with the Somerset Hills Adult Day Center, a facility that provides affordable day care service to elderly adults.
“I am greatly honored by this recognition,” stated Evelyn Savage. “It has been my privilege to lead the VNA of Somerset Hills for the past 22 years and to work with a community of talented and energetic people. I share this award with these individuals who are in the field everyday caring for thousands in our communities.”
Ms. Savage served on the Morristown Memorial Hospital Advisory Board and serves on the Board of Directors of Somerset Medical Center. She was an adjunct instructor at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Nursing Department and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Home Health Assembly of New Jersey (now the Home Care Association of New Jersey), where she was president from 1987-1989. She served as Chairman of the Board of the Center for Home Health Development from 1989-1993 and was elected to the CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Program) Board of Directors in 2002, where she still serves.
The New Jersey State Nurses Association named Ms. Savage “Nurse Administrator of the Year” in 1988. In 1992, the Home Health Assembly honored her with the Martha Esposito Award for Dedicated Service to Improve Home Healthcare and in 1997 she was named the Somerset County Woman of Distinction in Health Care.
Savage is presently overseeing the construction of the new VNA Headquarters, a two-story, 23,090 square-foot facility, designed by the Kimmerle Group of Morristown, to house the VNA and an expanded Somerset Hills Adult Day Center.
