Time for Tea
Basking Ridge Garden Club and Friends of the Somerset Hills Adult Day Center offer unique opportunity.
BERNARDSVILLE, NJ – On Thursday, March 1st at 2:00pm, The Basking Ridge Garden Club, along with the Friends of the Somerset Hills Adult Day Center, will host a Martha Washington Tea Party. The event will be catered by Fair Winds at the Basking Ridge Country Club. Proceeds from the tea will benefit the development of the gardens at the VNA’s new headquarters in Basking Ridge.
Guest lecturer, Ms. Bonnie Fairbanks, a member of the Williamsburg Foundation in Williamsburg, VA., will provide a historical overview of tea etiquette in Colonial times.
She will appear in period dress and will lead participants through each stage of the tea experience.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer the public such a unique experience, “stated Vivian Morrison, President of The Basking Ridge Garden Club. “At the same time, we will be benefiting an organization that helps so many members of our community.”
To complete the afternoon, attendees will have the chance to shop at a collection of artisan boutiques, set up specifically for this event. On display will be a collection of tea sets, representing all styles and periods in history. Anyone interested in lending a tea set to the collection should contact The Basking Ridge Garden Club at (908) 766-0624.
“We appreciate having the opportunity to work collaboratively with The Basking Ridge Garden Club,” said Carole Meis, President of the Friends of the Somerset Hills Adult Day Center. “This one-of-a-kind event should appeal to many and will be a delightful afternoon.”
