Annual “Cookie Walk” Features Home Baked Holiday Cookies
Fundraiser on December 12 Benefits the Adult Day Center of the VNA of Somerset Hills

BASKING RIDGE, NJ (November 4, 2009) – Come early for the best selection of home baked holiday cookies and treats at the annual “Cookie Walk” on Saturday, December 12 at the headquarters of the VNA of Somerset Hills at 200 Mt. Airy Road in Basking Ridge. The doors open at 9 a.m. Cookies and treats will be available at $12 per pound until the cookies sell out.

Hundreds of dozens of delicious home baked cookies are baked by volunteers and the Friends of the Adult Day Center of the VNA of Somerset Hills. Hand-crafted and boutique gift items will also be for sale including holiday centerpieces by the Basking Ridge Garden Club. The annual Cookie Walk benefits the programs at the Adult Day Center which offers day services to the frail elderly and chronically disabled older adults living in our community.

“The Cookie Walk is held at the Adult Day Center so it’s a great way for people to see exactly what they are supporting,” said Claire O’Brien, executive director of the Adult Day Center of the VNA of Somerset Hills. “When it is no longer safe or desirable for someone to be at home alone, the Day Center provides a nurturing environment and our clients return to their families in the evening,” she added.

The Adult Day Center of the VNA of Somerset Hills in Basking Ridge provides customized care for the frail elderly or chronically disabled adult who would otherwise have to stay home alone or be placed in a long-term care facility. The Day Center’s experienced and caring staff focus on enriching, fun activities designed to ensure that participants’ physical, cognitive, creative and social functioning will be maintained at the highest possible level.
