VNA OF SOMERSET HILLS RECOGNIZES CEO EVELYN SAVAGE FOR 25 YEARS OF SERVICE
Board of Trustees Election Results and Staff Awards Presented at Annual Meeting

BASKING RIDGE, NJ (May 19, 2009) – The Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills commended its Board of Trustees, Advisory Board and staff members, with special recognition to President and CEO Evelyn Savage, who is retiring July 31 after 25 years of service, at its Annual Meeting held May 12.

Guest speaker Susan Reinhard, PhD, RN, FAAN, chief strategist of the AARP Public Policy Institute, spoke of the role of nursing and home health care play in the need to manage chronic diseases as a crucial part of healthcare reform.

Current board chair Ev Prather thanked outgoing board members Grania Allport, Judie Dickerson, Linda Genaro, Doug Liguori, Carole Meis and Jay Parsons for their years of service. Board member Nina Vitale announced the results of the 2009 Board of Trustees elections: Second Vice Chair: Juliet Patsalos-Fox, Secretary: Carol Butera; Second Three-Year Term Board Members: Joyce Barnish, Jim Helpinstill and Elsa Roe, M.D.; First Three-Year Term Board Members: Carol Butera, Susan Lichtenberger, Chuck Miller, Peter Orlic, M.D. and Fox Stoddard.

Also recognized were 21 staff members representing a combined 218 years of service to the VNA of Somerset Hills. President and CEO Evelyn K. Savage was honored for leading the organization for 25 years. She will retire on July 31 of this year. Savage spoke of her lessons learned of leading an organization throughout more than two decades under continuous changing healthcare and economic environments. “Without team effort, nothing is possible, but with it, anything is possible,” said Savage.
