Event honors the Basking Ridge Garden Club’s 85th Anniversary

BASKING RIDGE, NJ (January 29, 2009) – The public is invited to The Art of Tea in the 18th Century on Wednesday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at Fair Winds at the Basking Ridge Country Club, hosted by the Friends of the Adult Day Center of the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills. The event will honor the Basking Ridge Garden Club’s 85th anniversary.
Bring your favorite cup and saucer and enjoy an afternoon of tea, finger sandwiches, scones and sweets and artisan boutiques. The cost is $40 per person and the proceeds will directly benefit the Adult Day Center of the VNA of Somerset Hills. The tea will feature performing artist Bonnie Fairbank, member of the Little Maids of History in Williamsburg, Virginia, who has appeared in roles depicting historical persons at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, The White House and on the History Channel. Ms. Fairbank wears Colonial period clothing and shares information about events bringing history alive.
“We wanted to do something special for the Basking Ridge Garden Club which generously donates their time and skills to keep the Adult Day Center’s outdoor garden maintained so beautifully,” said event chairperson Jeanne Lynch.
The Adult Day Center of the VNA of Somerset Hills in Basking Ridge provides customized care for the frail elderly or chronically disabled adult who would otherwise have to stay home alone or be placed in a long-term care facility. The Day Center’s experienced and caring staff focus on enriching, fun activities designed to ensure that participants’ physical, cognitive, creative and social functioning will be maintained at the highest possible level.
