VNA of Somerset Hills Offers Free Training for Hospice and Home Care Volunteers
BASKING RIDGE, NJ (August 12, 2009) – The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Somerset Hills is offering free training to men and women interested in becoming a hospice or a home care volunteer in Somerset or Morris county. Some of the things a volunteer may do with a patient are: help with groceries or errands, read to a patient, go for a walk with a patient, write letters and provide company and conversation.
Beginning September 29, 2009, the 18-hour training program will run for six consecutive Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the VNA headquarters at 200 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ. Beverages and snacks are provided and participants are welcome to bring a bag lunch.
VNA staff and guest speakers will cover issues a volunteer may experience with hospice and non-hospice patients and their families as well as a volunteer’s role. To register, or for more information, call Volunteer Manager Anne Kelleher at (908) 766-0180 x 118, or via email at akelleher@visitingnurse.org.
