Bring your donations to the Far Hills Fairgrounds between September 6 - 24, 2008; Monday thru Saturday from 10AM to 1PM. On entering the fairgrounds, turn right and proceed to one of the intake lines. Please drive as far forward as possible along the lines of tables, staying close to the tables on your left, so vehicles may pass on your right. Unload your donations onto the tables on your left and exit by turning left past the tents. Please note special drop off directions for Electric, Books and Computers.
Donation Drop Off Procedures
The VNA greatly appreciates your generosity and that of the community in donating items to its rummage sales. To make your donation experience as pleasant as possible, please follow these guidelines:
Check the list of items that are, or are not, acceptable as donations on the list on this page. The VNA cannot make house calls to pick up items. If you have a question about acceptability or loading of a specific item, call 908-781-6445 and leave a message. Someone will get back to you.
Arrive at the Far Hills Fairgrounds during donation hours, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. except Sundays, entering by the normally-closed gate nearer Route 202 and turning right. There is a limited capacity for vehicles to wait before 10. The lease prohibits the VNA from accepting any donations before 10 or after 1.
Take a donation receipt and possibly other information from the volunteer greeting you, and follow the directions of the volunteers assisting with traffic and intake. You must determine the value of the items you donate; there are computer programs that can help you.
Load items into your vehicle in the reverse order of dropoff, (LIFO), following this list arranged in loading order:
Computers, including peripherals and software. These will be unloaded last and normally from the right side of your vehicle.
Books. Because books are heavy and our volunteers mostly women, please place books in sturdy bags or boxes with no more than 15 pounds in each. These will also be unloaded to the right.
Toys. Includes large items such as ride-on equipment and playhouses. These also will be unloaded to the right.
Furniture. This category includes not only furniture but also other items sold in the largest tents such as home and garden tools, baby and medical equipment, luggage, rugs, prints and other art. These and all following categories will be unloaded to the left.
Sporting goods, including exercise machines (not all may be accepted), skis and acceptable boots, skates, baseball caps, bats and gloves, golf clubs, fishing rods and the like.
Miscellaneous. Includes all clothing and other soft goods, jigsaw and other puzzles and games for adults, music, home-office equipment, small toys, kitchen and household items and anything else acceptable not elsewhere listed.
Electrical and optical equipment. Includes anything with a plug or batteries that must be tested before resale except computers; also includes cameras, enlargers and other photographic items, binoculars and telescopes. These will be unloaded first, from the left.
