In an effort to foster the study of nursing, the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills (VNA) offers up to two scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree in nursing.

Amount of Award: up to $1,000
Award Committee: The Personnel Committee of the VNA Board of Trustees

Criteria for Eligibility:

1. Resident of Morris or Somerset County.
2. Accepted into a program leading to a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
3. Good academic standing.

Timetable for Award Decision:

1. Application MUST BE RECEIVED by the VNA no later than April 21,2007, applications received after this date will not be considered
2. Award Committee decision will be made by May 26, 2007
3. If possible, the award presentation will be made at school’s award ceremony
4. In the event that the awarded is unable to accept the award, the scholarship will be presented to an alternate selected by the Award Committee

Application Requirements:

Complete the attached application and append the following:

1. Two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers, guidance counselors, and/or employers
2. Personal statement indicating why the student has chosen to pursue a career in nursing
3. School Transcript
4. List of extra-curricular activities
5. List of work experiences
