Mission Statement:
The Adult Day Center of the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills is committed to helping the frail elderly or the chronically disabled older adult, who is homebound or in need of supervision, to continue living independently or with family by providing socialization and supervision in a welcoming, structured and supportive environment and a break to their family caregivers
About the Center:
The Adult Day Center of the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills is a private, not-for-profit organization developed to meet the increasing needs of the growing elderly population in our community. It opened its doors in May 1988 in the education building of the Somerset Hills Baptist Church in Basking Ridge. Its goal is to provide safe, reliable daytime programming for the frail elderly and chronically disabled older adult. In 2001 the Center became a subsidiary of the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills. In 2007 we moved into our state-of-the-art facility at 200 Mt. Airy Road, the new headquarters for the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills. The center is equipped with two program rooms, a dining room, personal care space, and enclosed outdoor garden.
Services:
The services provided at the Center are a cost effective, dignified alternative for elderly loved ones who would other wise have to stay at home alone, unsafely, or be prematurely placed in a nursing home or assisted living facility. At the same time, this service provides family caregivers with the ability to carry on with their own daily activities while their loved one is safely cared for during the day. The services include:
- Recreational Activities, including Exercise
- Socialization Activities
- Lunch and Snacks
- Health Monitoring
Due to the unique needs of the members the staff to member ratio at the Adult Day Center is 5 to 1. The professional staff includes nurses, social workers and trained activities personnel. This highly trained and motivated staff provides a comprehensive, structured environment to ensure the quality of the member’s experience.
Hours of Operation:
The Center is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00a.m. until 5:00p.m. It is closed for eight or nine holidays. Transportation to and from the Center may be available through the Somerset County Department of Transportation to qualifying individuals.
