Development & Marketing Associate

Responsible to support the efforts of the Director of Development and Marketing by assisting with the coordination of fundraising efforts, including event coordination and donor relations.

REPORTS TO: The Director of Development & Marketing


  • Proven ability to efficiently learn and utilize a database system to manage information
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Computer competence; Microsoft access, Word, Excel; Power Point; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Previous experience at a not-for-profit a plus


  • Knowledge of VNA mission, philosophy, policies and programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong data base experience
  • Ability to properly maintain and deal with confidential information
  • Ability to work independently


  • Maintain and utilize donor database (including but not limited to – mail merges, query creations, updating records)
  • Entry of all donations to database
  • Timely response to all donations
  • Run donor trending reports as needed by needed by Director
  • Assist with coordination of marketing events (including but not limited to – preparation of mailings, filing of required forms, financial tracking and reconciliation, attendance at planning meeting, attendance at event, and completion of follow-up activities)
  • Maintain all event timelines and alert staff of timeline responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of grant proposals
  • Assist performing literature/internet reviews to obtain supportive documentation for grant proposals
  • Effectively communicate with Board members, donors and event partners
  • Assist in writing press releases
  • Maintain and track inventory of marketing materials
  • Maintain marketing files
  • Maintain an accurate account of department budget
  • Perform other duties as assigned
